I always liked the film Baron Munchausen...by Terry Gilliam. This film, The Fall, reminded me of that...playful, sad. Very beautiful. The director, Tarsem: gold star awarded. The Romanian girl in it is great...her tiny voice, missing front teeth...makes the film.
Also, the other main actor has an actual southern accent. Nice, nice. Fake southern accents...which tend to be the norm in films...are really difficult to listen to. Like being punched in the ear. I have a friend who is watching the HBO show Tru Blood...I tried to watch an episode. The southern accents in it were vocal cartoons, really painful. And it's about vampires. Culturally, that's apparently our thing right now. Vampires. I'm saying "no" to it, but collectively speaking, we're into that.

yes on the vampire thing and have been for several years.
i must come out of the closet aobut something though. for years i was a Buffy the vamp... nay-sayer (is that spelled right). but one night shortly after my first son was born i was up late, as one often is with a newborn, and it came on at 3:00 am. it was in japanese and , you know, it was buffy, but i watched it anyway and sort of liked it so i began watching more and more and ended up watching the entire series in english and japanese. what did i like about it? the idea of facing one's "demons" and then promptly kicking ass.
personal strength stories! that makes sense. i can go for that.
i always thought that women (at least with the current stuff, like the twilight books) were just going for the brooding men. which seemed like great news...woo hoo! i'm trendy!...until i realized that "brooding" ceases to be attractive once it crosses over into clinical depression. it's totally useless at that point.
buffy was fun, strong characters. i think the tru blood is sort of...i don't know. doesn't have the attitude.
begs the question
do YOU have a southern accent?
tell! tell!
i exist only in blog form and have no actual voice.
which means that my only accent is italics.
"which means that my only accent is italics." Funny! I love italics, probably to the point of overuse.
The Fall looks quite enjoyable - eclectic, fantastical, right up my alley. I'll add it to my list.
mr M,
you are a gem! yes, i meant that to rhyme. clever, huh. anyway, thank you for the comment over at my blog. dear friend, with your mental powers we could do just about anything.
ps. by the way, i have a real southern accent. well, ok, a texas twang, but still it's close.

must not be drinking hot coffee when reading IT
ow
"when reading IT"
IT works as an acroynm. Kyra pointed out one time that you can't really do the full acronym with this blog. i didn't even think about acronym possibilities when coming up with the title.
much better name then than, oh, let's say ... Asperger's Syndrome Social Clubs Really Are Clubs for Karaoke
M, I love you analysis of toilets and sinks on my blog. I've never thought about that, but I think you're right. Maybe you ought to get on that design for me before we have another underware homicide! I'm doing fine by the way. Incredibly busy, but fine. Glad to have you back and posting regularly by the way!
Natalie
I both love and hate True Blood. The accents are comical. That show is half comedy. I have to wonder what the creator was thinking... most of the actors aren't even from the U.S.
